Two page letter (both sides of one sheet), on Tavistock House letterhead, dated "Thursday Second December 1858", approximately 7 x 4.5", horizontal folds, matted (close to margins) and framed with oval portrait of Dickens, in 11 x 12", double glass wooden frame. In short: "Dear Arthur / I cannot tell you how surprised and g___ I was last night. We heart from Albert of your recent illness...I must send you my loving words, and tell you how we all think of you..." Dickens tells of an upcoming "...meeting in Manchester...", his "...Chronometer will never keep correct time...", etc. SIGNED IN FULL BY CHARLES DICKENS with his signature paraph. To put this in perspective, his novel A TALE OF TWO CITIES would be published the next year!
