Chez-Buisson: Paris, 1792. Hardcover. Very Good. Item #22-1749

2 vols. 8 x 5", early leather backed marbled boards, 366pp; 509pp with "Table Des Chapitres", covers quite worn, corners chpping, leather spines crackling, outer hinges starting, bottom of spines chipped, some light staining/soiling to covers, old auction description tipped-in to front of volume one, inner hinges cracking, last page with blank corner missing, minor wormholes to last endpaper. Contents toned but still a decent set of the Second French Edition (without the Introduction, and with "Gay" instead of "Jay", though Sabin says this may be the same of the first); Sabin 23993. Howes H115 "most famous and influential political work". Once property of George Lewis Canfield, famous Detroiter, with his bookplate and pencil signatures. Volume I also has a pencil inscription signed by H.C. Lodge, probably Harriet C. Lodge, wife of John C. Lodge, once Mayor of Detroit. SCARCE.

Price: $6,000.00
