FARM LIFE, Volume 43, 1942 [magazine, bound volume] (Steece, Ohio)

Farm Life Publishing: Spencer, IN, 1924. Hardcover. Very Good. Item #22-1166

12 issues bound in one volume. Illus.; ads, 12 x 8", black library buckram, vp, covers worn, pp toned, original covers bound in though they have address labels on each; still, a great snapshot of the 1920s. Articles on poultry management, dairy farming, beekeeping, gardens and orchards, houseplants, dress patterns, recipes. An interesting article "Farmers Tell Us College Folks How To Manage A Farm". Ads for Chrysler, McCormack, Durant Motors, International Harvester. Attractive covers by now famous artists such as Annie Benson Muller, John Bradshaw Crandell, Alice Beach Winter and husband Charles Allan Winter, Arthur Moscon who did a cover showing a woman standing behind a glowing jack-o-lantern. The address labels bear the name of Thurman Weisenberger, 1894-1965, of Steece, Ohio (Lawrence County) who was fortunate enough to be able to return home after serving in WWI. SCARCE publication. Would still be useful today, especially for urban farmers. Plus, anything related to Steece, Ohio is rare.
