10 x 6", black cloth recently neatly re-backed with brown cloth with portion of original spine cover laid on, 140pp, old cloth covers with corners bumped and extremities worn, former owner's inkstamp (an attorney in Boston) on title page as is a Worcester County Law Library blindstamp, the rest of the textblock is nice and clean. Prigg kidnapped a former slave (and her children) in Pennsylvania, and sold her as a slave in Maryland, which was against Pennsylvania law at the time, but the US Supreme Court ruled that it was legal under Federal law. Landmark case, SCARCE original report.
