A.J. Reach Company: Philadelphia, 1910. Paperback. Very Good. Item #22-0922

Illus., 6.5 x 5", printed wraps, 640pp. Covers detached (including last page), worn, creased, chipped, etc., names circled in ink (mainly Detroit's Sam Crawford), staining to the upper margins of the first and last few pp, toning, creased corners else good. Textblock tight. Very detailed coverage plus photos of players and ballparks. It was Detroit's third appearance at the World Series and Pittsburgh's second which they won in seven games over Detroit. Some significant factors regarding the 1909 World Series: first series in which seven games were played, first in which the teams alternated between wins and losses and the first in which both teams lost major players to injury. Of special interest: on page 496 are team photos of two Negro League teams; the Leland University Team, New Orleans, LA and the Harrisburg Giants, Harrisburg PA plus the trial for using electric lights for a night game in Cincinnati was successful. Lots of good baseball history. SCARCE.
