Finely cut silhouette of an unknown Colonial male purportedly by Sarah (Sally) DeHart

2.5 x 2.5", stained around edges. She died in 1832 and was famous for Washington's portrait in Irving's Life of Washington, original at Mount Vernon. Her father was a delegate to the first and second Continental Congresses and mayor of Elizabethtown, NJ which gave her opportunity to capture the likenesses of her father's prominent visitors. The silhouette came in an envelope with note indicating that it was done by her.
