Collection includes 4.5 x 3" book with embossed "Address Book for Allied Troops" (plus Nationalist China sun and some Chinese characters) on front cover, with six pp of English phrases and Chinese counterparts, well-worn and loose, spine breaking; oblong 3 x 4", coupon booklet titled "Certificate for Waiving Festival Tax from Allied Forces", stapled wraps, stained and toned and worn with creased corners, with ten perforated coupons (first filled-in in pencil for a John R. Butts eating at the Golden Star Restaurant April 28, 1946, coupons numbered 287811-287820 with inkstamps on reverse of each, booklet numbered 38782; plus business cards for "Peking Gift Shop", "Kailand Tu (Young Men's Bar and Restaurant) and "Golden Star Café", all in Tientsin, China. Cards worn and soiled and stained, Kailand card with pencil writing in Chinese and English ("tomorrow, come to my home"). There was a John R. Butts who reportedly served on the USS LST-982, which was decommissioned in August 1946 and sold to the Philippines.
