There are only 3 of 6 playing pieces present and the spinner. The chromolithograph on the cover depicts finely dressed black men and women strolling. The bottom of the box has the "walk" pasted in, it is a chromolithograph with the finely dressed heads of the strolling group. Game is 9 x 15" with cellophane tape repairs on the edge with a small amount of lifting on the lid and minor wear. SCARCE. The cakewalk was a pre-Civil War dance originally performed by slaves on plantation grounds. The uniquely American dance was first known as the "prize walk"; the prize was an elaborately decorated cake. Thus, the original source for the phrases "take the cake" and "cakewalk". Please note: we are selling this as a historical relic documenting America's racist past. We are not promoting the sickening disease of racism.
