The Game of POOR JENNY, The Mishaps of a Little Donkey No. 303

Rochester, NY, 1927. Paperback. Very Good. Item #21-8939

Directions for the game are on the interior. It appears to be a variation of Chutes and Ladders, where Poor Jenny the donkey travels the countryside interacting with a "black mammy" with a rolling pin on a cardboard surface with the object being the first little donkey that gets to 100 wins. There are 4 of 4 wooden dice and 3 of 4 metal donkey markers in different colors (Jen, Bob and Tom). The game is 11.5 x 11.5" with a black woman holding a pie in one hand and rolling pin in the other, and little donkey trying to lick it, with a black baby eyeing the pie also. The lid has some chips, wear and staining. Please note: we are selling this as a historical relic documenting America's racist past. We are not promoting the sickening disease of racism.
