np (San Francisco), nd (1915). Hardcover. Very Good. Item #21-7344

47mm in brass hanger, hanger stamped "Patents Pending". Lacks reflective mirror, novagem has minor defects (light scratches, dings) else very good condition, hanger is darkened with a few scratches and rubbed lettering. There were 102,000 Novagems decorating the Tower of Jewels in eight colors: jonquil, ruby, emerald, aquamarine, clear, topaz, rose tourmaline and amethyst. These faceted cut glass "jewels" came in five sizes with 47mm being the largest. They were mounted on brass hangers (with mirrors attached for increased reflection) that hung freely from sides of the building. Breezes made Novagems shimmer in such a way that visitors would say it was impossible to describe them. In the evening, fifty-four searchlights were focused on the tower making the building sparkle. This is an original Novagem that hung on the tower, the hanger has "Patent Pending" near the hole, no other markings. SCARCE.
