Paperweight of "portable track" from the Hawaiian sugar can plantation, Ewa

Hawaii, nd (1890s). Hardcover. Very Good. Item #21-7325

Lightweight metal, approximately 2.5 x 2.5", some rust and scrapes else very good condition. A printed sheet of paper (creased, light soiling) shows the image of the engine and car "Ewa Plantation Co. #1. Built in 1890". From the sheet: "A special kind of track was sued on the plantations. This was called a portable track. It was so light-weight that four men could easily pick up and carry a single piece of portable track...Sugar cane cars were pushed out along the portable track...This paperweight is a section of the portable track".
