Pottery mark "V&B S" (Villeroy & Boch) np (Mettlach), nd (1883-1912). Hardcover. Very Good. Item #21-6750

Majolica. 8", light brown embossed fan design with flowers, sheaves of wheat and a butterfly, "Kern" in the center. Mild chipping else fine. Ernst Kern started a department store in Detroit in 1883. Perhaps this plate was created to celebrate the store's opening. SCARCE.
