8 x 10" semi-gloss photo, slight toning to upper and lower borders, minor corner bump else an attractive image of a smiling Lunceford in a white(?) suit. Procured at stage door, Loew's State, Wed Jan 5 1938. COA included. Jazz alto sax player, Lunceford taught at Manassas High School in Memphis in 1927 where he formed a band with some of the students called "The Chickaswawa Syncopators". Later called the "Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra" the band moved to New York and played at the Cotton Club and the Lafayette Theatre. They recorded with Columbia Records and Decca.
