Photo oblong 6 x 8", mount 8 x 10". Photo is creased, soiled, stained, missing tip of a corner and a small piece on a margin, burn mark on a different margin, mount is stained, worn and soiled. Images clear. The photograph is not labeled but it is identical to one shown in the 1911 Davenport, Iowa Fire Department history which was labeled Central Station Crew. The notes on the back refer to Captain Gustav G. (Gus) Alex, Hook & Ladder Company, No. 1. In part "Eyes Blue", "Uniform Blue", "Buttons Silver". The firemen are either from Hook & Ladder Company, No. 1 or Hose Company No. 2. The Central Station opened in 1902, it is the oldest active fire station west of the Mississippi River. Very SCARCE.
