Illus., oblong 6 x 9", pict stapled wraps, 144pp. Covers are soiled, torn, chipped, tape repaired, creased, spine tape repaired and peeling, covers starting to separate from spine, contents have creased corners, rusty staples, light toning else good to very good condition. The Premium List contains all the categories that we're all familiar with ie. livestock, poultry, fruits and flowers, dairy. There are photos of people arriving at the fair from the Detroit United Railway station; the Grand Stand; the Michigan Building; the Horticultural Exhibit; the Main Building. Plus, there are one photo each of the attractions, "Wanderlust" and "Vesuvius." Wanderlust contained an ostrich farm, ferris wheel, vaudeville, gypsy camps, animal shows. "Vesuvius" aka "Paine's Vesuvius" required over 250 people to recreate the story of the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, "a wonderful fireworks display." Lots of nice views of the new steamer City of Cleveland, Ferrand's Nursery, J.L. Hudson, Olds Gas Power Co., Pontiac Buggy Company, Whitney Theatre, Berry Bros. Varnish, Partridge & Blackwell department store. Under "Announcement" the Michigan Agricultural Society boasts that the 1907 fair would be the greatest in the fair's history and that "The effect of having permanent home is being felt..." The Michigan State Fair started in 1849 and in 1905 moved to a new location, this would be its third year here and fifty-eighth year overall. The front cover has a wonderful bird's eye view of the fairgrounds. Early Michigan State Fair programs are very SCARCE.
