Sepia-colored wood frame 17 x 19", triple matted (sepia/white/sepia), black/white photo approximately 10.5 x 13.5" (not examined out of frame), professionally framed. Frame has light wear, backing paper has a few small tears, photo creased with smudging. Shows a chest-high image of Rockne with his "Four Horsemen" positioned alongside the photograph. This image was first issued in 1924 and re-used for his death. Coach Rokne spent 13 years at Notre Dame, achieving 105 victories with only 12 losses and 5 ties including 5 undefeated and untied seasons. On March 31, 1931 he was enroute from Kansas City to Los Angeles when structural issues caused the plane to crash killing all on board, six passengers and two crew members.
