The ink inscription "To Walter R. Steiner, M.D. From William Taft Pitkin. Son of the author." Dr. Walter Steiner was a physician, pathologist and author and a Johns Hopkins graduate. He attended Yale University, Class of 1892, with Horace T. Pitkin who became a missionary in China and was killed in the Boxer Uprising in 1900. SCARCE. FIRST EDITION.
