A couple of brief items: "John Tyler", the current president, "sold his own son at auction, and that he has children in slavery...". "Capture Of A Slaver" a report that the "British brig of war Rapid had captured a Brazillian slaver, having on board two hundred and fifty slaves. The slaves were freed and the vessel condemned". Ads: "Genteel Boarding For Respectable Colored Seamen", "Boarding House For Colored Seamen". The masthead shows two images: a slave auction and emancipated slaves.
