Ten Postcards Showing Various Naval Yards and Vessels such as the Arizona, Oregon and Saratoga. Various places, 1908-1919.

5.5 x 3.5, Five are real photo postcards: Arizona, Saratoga, Virginia and two unnamed destroyers. Five are in color: Brooklyn, Oregon, navy yard at Mare Island, Calif, torpedo fleet at unnamed U.S. harbor and the Italian cruiser "Varese." Three are postally used and two have pencil notes. The photo postcards have light soiling, wear and some creased corners. The condition of the color postcards is similar but with a little bit of chipping, one card has several creases and another has a chewed lower corner. Most of the cards were published by either Edward H. Mitchell, San Francisco or E. Muller, Jr., New York City. The Arizona is a particularly nice card showing it leaving NY with the Brooklyn Bridge and the city in the background. (There is a little bit of sunning near the upper corner -- from the negative?) The titles of the cards: USS Arizona; "Virginia: On Fleet Week at Newport, RI; The World's Fastest USS Saratoga; US destroyer at high speed making a smoke screen; a smoke screen; Italian Cruiser "Varese"; Torpedo Boats and destroyers. In Harbor at a United States Navy Yard; US Battleship "Oregon"; US Armored Cruiser Brooklyn; dry dock, US Navy Yard, Mare Island, California. The US vessels served in various wars: Spanish American, WWI, WWII. An interesting collection. Sold as a lot only.
