Carver, George Washington

TYPED LETTER SIGNED BY GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER ON TUSKEGEE INSTITUTE LETTERHEAD August 22, 1939

Tuskegee, AL 1939 One page, 11 x 8.5", folds, some wear else a nicely typed letter consisting of four paragraphs, addressed to Mr. Austin W. Curtis, Jr. "Baby Carver" at West Virginia State College; nice, chatty letter thanking Curtis for a card, reporting on the weather, enclosing a copy of a letter (not included), etc. "If you have any more directions to give me just put them down next time you write, and I will put them on your back when you come because you know just as well as I how nauseating that part is knowing as you do how it distresses me to whip, and how thoroughly it can be done when necessary which is often several times per day." Huh? SIGNED BY G.W. CARVER. Austin Curtis was Carver's long-time assistant at Tuskegee.
