A collection of over 500 male erotic photographs from Target and Sierra Domino/C. Calvin Anderson studios from the estate of John Embry

Target & Sierra Domino: San Francisco (1970s/1980s) 564 photos total. Target: 323 photos, black and white, 5 x 7", 38 labelled models, photos are in a beat-up binder, almost all are affixed to album pages, a few loose one of which is stamped Target Studios, some album sleeves are torn/missing, overall good condition. All caucasian men and 37/38 were Target models. Anderson: 241 photos including 2 proof sheets, black and white with a handful in color, loose, stored in sleeves in three binders, size ranges from 2.75 x 1.5" to 10 x 6.75", only a couple of models are named. One photo mounted, almost all are stamped C. Calvin Anderson or Sierra Domino or S.D. There are 80 photos that have issues ie. creasing, staining, spotting, stuck together, the remaining photos are in good condition. All African-American men. COMES WITH: "Michael's Thing" Vol. 5 No. 14/ Week of April 7, 1945. Illus., 8.5 x 5.25", stapled pict wraps, 59pp, includes reviews on "Funny Lady" and "Janis...A Film". "Photographer's Choice" Portfolio 1 and Portfolio 2, 8.5 x 5.25", stapled pict wraps, unpaginated, creasing, wear, stickers, #1 is cut, print of two African-American men entitled "gemini", Sierra Domino, creasing else good, cover only for "Lethal Meat", creased and torn, advertisements from Black Adonis Magazine, The Natural Image, Hannibal 3, correspondence to/from Sierra Domino and info from the Chicago Resource Center regarding gay and lesbian program grants, real estate business card, a total of 25 pieces of ephemera. Target Studios was founded in the 1970s by photographer and filmmaker Lou Thomas. Photographer Calvin Craig Anderson founded Sierra Domino in the 1970s. Their work and advertisements appeared in Drummer Magazine, published by John Embry from whose estate these items were purchased. His groundbreaking magazine featured gay male leather writing and art. Handwritten on a scrap of paper (which is part of the lot) "From estate of John Embry (Drummer Mag). A total of 564 photos and 25 pieces of ephemera in 4 binders. Sold as a lot only.
