(J. Goodwin) (c. 1830) Text illus.; frontis portrait, 8 x 5.25", full gilt-ruled black leather; aeg, 212pp + index, covers heavily rubbed, spine (heavily gilt-dec with red leather label) darkened and creased, hinges starting, inner hinges reinforced, pp toned with some spotting and finger soil, yet illustrations still bright. With the (stained) bookplate of Charles S. Burrall Pike and Frances Alger Pike: Charles came from the famed Pikes of Chicago, and Frances was the youngest daughter of Russell A. Alger, Governor of Michigan and Secretary of War under McKinley- and President McKinley came to their wedding!
