(Herold Press: Detroit) (1902?) 12 tipped-in color photos by William Henry Jackson and published by the Detroit Photographic Company; black and white text photos; red and green seven-line colored initials. 9 x 6.5" gilt-dec leather with image of cowboy and bucking bronco with lariat forming title, teg, with red-silk endpapers. 91pp, covers a bit edge-worn with some spotting to covers (small spot on front cover, larger spot on back), hinges loose, sink endpapers wrinkled and stained from blue, rear fly delaminating, contents toned with some shadows opposite color photos else a decent, early travelogue. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, CARL E. SCHMIDT, TO ALEX BLAINE. Schmidt, one of the famous fur/tanning Schmidts of Detroit, documented his trip (with his daughter and some friends) out west in 1901. "For private circulation."
