"Taxation Of Colored People" regarding taxing Maryland's free people of color, "Bastardy Act-General Assembly" an act passed by the Providence House of Representatives "That no black or colored unmarried woman shall be admitted to charge any white person with begetting her with child", "The Free Colored Population of Maryland" a possible bill for the removal of free colored persons from Charles County. A couple of brief items: "John Tyler", the current president, "sold his own son at auction, and that he has children in slavery...". "Capture Of A Slaver" a report that the "British brig of war Rapid had captured a Brazillian slaver, having on board two hundred and fifty slaves. The slaves were freed and the vessel condemned". Ads: "Genteel Boarding For Respectable Colored Seamen", "Boarding House For Colored Seamen". The masthead shows two images: a slave auction and emancipated slaves.
