Boston, Massachusetts Friday, Februar 25 x 18", 17-20. Ink name, scattered spotting, folded in half, fold creases, edge and fold tears, small holes else good condition. Articles include "Abolition in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Alabama", "John Quincy Adams" in which Adams, while presenting anti-slavery petitions to Congress stated that if there were a vote to abolish slavery in the District of Columbia he would vote against it. A brief note from the St. Francisville Louisiana Chronicle which mentions a man that was hunting down three runaway slaves, caught two and the third, who got shot, drowned in a swamp. More brief notes, this time from the "Boston Post Boy" "Three runaway Negroes...froze to death...supposed to be intoxicated", a court case involving "Ceaser, a colored man against his master...for detaining him in slavery" and Ceaser won his case. Finally, "The Pope of Rome has granted a dispensation, lately to a Catholic institution, in this neighborhood, to sell off about 200 slaves, in order to raise money". The masthead shows two images: a slave auction and emancipated slaves.
