Wooden Drumstick "Benny and Ethel Resh's 509 Club Fine Food Entertainment 509 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Mich."

Detroit (1951?) 7.25", dark blue lettering with red bands. Some soiling to drumstick end else very good condition. Orchestra leader Benny Resh and his wife Ethel moved between the 509 Club and clubs in Florida in the late 1940s. In 1951 the Reshs, along with their son-in-law Morton Miller bought this popular Detroit club from Ernest Stein. Benny was the manager, Ethel the hostess and Morton the bar manager. According to an article in the May 1961 Detroit Free Press Don Rickles started his career at the 509 Club eight years previously in 1953.
