Two early reprints of photographs by Sydney Laurence of Cordova, Alaska- one shows First Street and the other shows the backs of businesses and a two story school on a hill

Cordova (1915?) On the First Street photo "Cordova The Sydney Laurence Co.". The remaining photo has "Cordova" and the number "26" in a corner, different handwriting, no Laurence name but the composition and quality appear to have been from the same photographer. Both oblong 6.5 x 11" with .25" margins, black and white. Light curling and soiling, two creased margins/corners else very good. Some of the businesses shown in the First Street scene: O.K. Lodging House, Smith's Rooming House, Denver Bar. The second photo shows fronts and backs of houses and businesses, a school on a hill, top of a building with the name "S. Blum". Sydney was an American artist and photographer who settled in Alaska in 1903/1904. He lived in Cordova in 1908-1909 but didn't establish the Sydney Laurence Company until 1915 in Anchorage. Laurence is more known for his paintings than his photographs, most of his photographs are only in museum collections. Even though these two images are early reprints, the are still desirable and SCARCE. Sold as a pair only.
