Three items from Detroit's Wardell Hotel: Two creamers stamped "The Wardell" and a teaspoon stamped Wardell-Sheraton [Park Shelton Hotel]

(Detroit) (1930s-1940s) Creamers: International Silver Co., silver soldered, 05008A, 4oz, 3.25"h x 4.5"w (handle to spout), decorative pattern on rim. Spoon: Reed & Barton, A triplex, other lettering worn. Creamers have rubbing, scratches else good to very good condition. Spoon has rubbing, scratches, couple of spots to bowl else good-very good condition. The Wardell Apartment Hotel was built in 1926 and functioned as a residential hotel where visitors could stay for extended time periods as Diego Rivera did in the early 1930's when he was working on his murals at the Detroit Institute of Arts. In 1943 the Wardell was bought by the Sheraton Hotel Chain and became the Wardell-Sheraton, about ten years later it again had a new name, the same one it uses today: The Park Shelton. Sold as a group.
