Grosse Ile 1954-1978 Six photos, 4 in black and white, one of which is a printed postcard, 2 in color, 3.5 x 5" to 7.5 x 9.5", newspaper clippings (from one article) are in small pieces. Two of the b&w photos and the newspaper clippings are affixed to an album page, album page and newspaper clippings are toned, white-out (?) at the top of one photo, remainder of the photos (except for postcard) are curling, overall good condition. The newspaper article, from the January 31 1954 edition of "The Detroit Free Press Roto Magazine" talks about the design of the house and the materials used along with a floor plan and a photo of the fireplace. The Taylors added to the album page two panoramic photos: one of the u-shaped exterior and one of the waterfront as viewed from inside the house. The largest of the photographs shows the rear of the house with the attatched garage. The two color hotos show two different views: Dorothe sitting by the fireplace with pencil note on reverse "Grosse Ile 1961" and a front side view, on the back is noted "Taylor House Grosse Ile, Mich. 1978- Taken by Plautz." Plautz was John R. Plautz, their neighbor at 18601 Parke Lane. The "postcard" shows the front of the house, image is bordered on three sides with narrow boxes which list house terms ie split level, 3 br., garage, over one acre and holes are punched next to the words which describe the house. On the back are all stats like lot size, year built, between bridge and meridian, thermopanes, many built in items- furniture and kitchen. There are three bonus items: A photograph of Jonathan from 1939 and one of Dorothe from 1929 plus a newspaper clipping from 1957 titled "Island Artist Wins Prize for Painting" which indicates that Dorothe Taylor, Parke Ln. won the Viger Memorial Prize at the 48th annual Exhibition for Michigan Artists at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
