Printed by the Impala Color Studio: Warren, MI (1970's?) Illus., 11 x 8.5", pict. stapled cream wraps, unpaginated. Covers have light creasing, soiling, and toning, small stain on front cover, ink name and date (1970) inside rear cover, contents have light soiling and spotting else very good. Founded in 1846, St. Matthew's is the second oldest African-American congregation in Detroit. The Rev. Quintin E. Primo, Jr. became its pastor in 1969. Loaded with photographs of the church groups and parishioners along with a list of their addresses. The founded and first pastor, the Rev. W.C. Monroe, was working with an anti-slavery society when John Brown and others arrived with twenty slaves as Detroit was a stop on the Underground Railroad. In 1881, St. Matthew's moved to their newly built church at St. Antoine and Elizabeth, it was the first African American Episcopal Church in the city. Comes with a much later church bulletin dated August 16, 1970. Sold as a pair. SCARCE.
