Teaspoon from the Union News Company which had restaurants in Detroit's Michigan Central Railroad Depot and Union Depot.

Silco Stainless USA nd (1930?) 6" length, stamped the Union News Co. on front of the handle, backstamped Silco Stainless USA. Scratches, light wear, needs some cleaning else good/very good. The spoon does not bear marks from either railroad company but was acquired from someone who knew it came from one of the two depots. The Union News Company was a division of the American News Company, a major distributor of periodicals and had outlets in many major cities including Detroit. The Detroit branches included restaurants, barber shops, gift shops and also sold cigars, drugs and cigarettes according to a1939 directory listing. Of course, they also sold magazines, newspapers and books. Nice bit of Detroit railroad memorabilia.
