Two Lease Agreements between Joseph Caldwell and the Chicago Heights Coal Company and the Michigan Central Railroad Company, lessee of the Jolet & Northern Indiana Rail Road, land to be used as a coal shed, dated 1897 and 1908.

Document size varies from 14.5 x 8 to 15.5 x 8, attached to a blue "folder." Creasing, tears, chipping, soiling, missing tips of some corners. The lease includes 2 blueprints of the land dated 1901, one with the name of Joseph Caldwell and one with the name of Chicago Heights Coal Co, a four page lease dated 1898, a two page lease dated 1908. From "The Chicago Heights Star," dated July 13, 1951: "The Chicago Heights Coal Company, founded in 1902, was one of the pioneer road paving organizations in Illinois. As such it was not only instrumental in giving Chicago Heights its first system of brick-paved streets, but also constructed some of the most important state highways. . . "
