In part "The Pensacola Gazette thus describes the Arcadia Cotton Factory: 'It is worked entirely by slave labor; runs 24 looms, and turns out 1000 yards of cotton per day . . . Here is a clear savings of $15 per day. . . A still greater savings might be made and less sin involved, if free labor were substituted for slaves."
