np nd (c 1940) 5 pp typed on "Asia" pre-lined paper, 13 x 8.5 with numerous ink and pencil annotations and corrections by Buck; plus two 8.5 x 11 lined notebook pages with manuscript additions and inserts by Buck; Asia Magazine pages worn and toned, folds, paper clip indents at top, paper clip rust on first and past pp but with pre-printed vertical lines and directions for printers; notebook pages have pre-punched holes torn, still a fascinating work. An article on China in World War II: "The Japanese have captured one major city after another and have, with each capture, extended the skeleton of their rule. . . Chinese, then, are winning the war by staying alive, as far as possible. . . " Buck was a frequent contributor to Asia Magazine; her husband Richard Walsh was editor in th 1930s, and the two bought the magazine in 1941.
