Author was contacted by F.L. Crosby from NYC to ". . . prepare an article on Lake Superior as a summer resort. . . The article should be illustr, and for this purpose it might be well for you to correspond with Carl Marr, the celebrated artist of Milwaukee, and see if you cannot persuade him to accompany you." The companions on this "voyage" were James Barker and his wife, Carl Marr, Dr. Starbuck and Mr. & Mrs. W.E. Kellogg. The title of the chapters: Trip to Odanah, Ashland and its Famous Hotel, The Camp Among the Islands, Voyage Down the Chippewa and Central Wisconsin: Glimpses of Bad River. A detailed account with attractive illustrations. Carl Marr was most likely Carl von Marr, a well known artist especially in Germany. Very scarce. FIRST EDITION.
