Menu from the Detroit Statler Hotel for "The Detroit-Grand Trunk Western Recreation Association First Annual Banquet Statler Hotel Detroit, Mich. November 14, 1929."

Detroit 1929 8.5 x 5.5 (opens up to 17 x 11, but printed on one side only), printed wraps, unpag (4 pages). Soiling, light creasing, small stain on front else good. Program included a performance from the Canadian National Railways Concert Orchestra/Dance Orchestra/Pipe Band of Montreal and an address by the railroad company's president, Sir Henry Thornton. Menu selection included Chicken Okra Creole, Larded Beef Tenderloin Saute Bordelaise, Tutti Fruiti Ice Cream. The Statler was designed by George B. Post of NY and opened in 1914. This luxury hotel (now long gone) had 800 guest rooms, each with its own bath. One of its most famous guests was Harry Houdini who stayed there in October 1926 prior to his last performance at Detroit's Garrick Theatre.
