WWII collar tab and cap pin from the 4th Canadian Railway Battalion.

np (Canada) nd (1917?) Collar tab, brass, moose image facing to the right "4 C.M.R.R. Overseas," 1.25 x 1; cap pin, brass, moose image facing to the left, "4 C.M.R.R. Overseas," 2 x 1.5. Both have light wear else very good. In February, 1915, the British War office requested assistance of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The C.P.R. assembled 500 experienced employees who became known as the Canadian Overseas Railway Construction Corps. This first contingent arrived in France in August 1915 with supplies to construct railroads. More men were requested during the course of the war, the 4th battalion arrived in France in February 1917. These men constructed, repaired, maintained, operated, and administered all gauges of the entire railway network for the five British Army areas in France and Belgium. Sold as a pair.
