Hawthorne, Julian.

"THOREAU--GENIUS OF THE WOODS," a three-page article in The Dearborn Independent, August 20, 1927.

The Dearborn Publishing Co: Dearborn 1927 Illustr, 12 x 8.5, printed stapled wraps, 32 pp. Ex-lib with usual markings, light creasing and soiling else good. Julian Hawthorne reminisces about his father Nathaniel Hawthorn's good friend, Henry David Thoreau. From the article: "It was my privilege, as a boy, to accompany Thoreau on some of his walks, not as a companion rightly so called, but as a walker beside him. He would speak but few words during these tramps, and I was quite taciturn as he, which, I think, was the main reason he tolerated my presence."
