R.H. Russell: NY 1900 Extra illustr, 8.25 x 5.5, blue cloth with gilt lettering, gilt eagle on spine and gilt bees on front cover, top edge gilt, 262 pp. Covers have light wear/rubbing, small paint mark on rear cover, corners and spine tips bumped and worn, front inner hinge and text block cracked, page edges chipped else good. The owner of the book, Minnie Rowland Root, saw L'Aiglon at the Montauk Theatre on January 4, 1901, and has added many extras including printed photos and engravings into the text block, all relating to the characters/scenes in the play and to Maud Adams who played the lead in the performance at the Knickerbocker Theatre in NY, October 1900. She has labeled all the "extras" on a separate piece of paper preceding each one and ahs also labeled the acts. This play is based on the life of Napoleon's son, Napoleon II, the duke of Reichstadt. A nice souvenir.
