Illustr, 10 x 6.5, boards, quarter leather, gilt lettering on spine "Sears Pictorial Magazine 1848-49," 534, 502, 4 pp. Disbound, covers worn, leather scuffed/scraped, esp. spine, corners bumped and worn, contents have spotting, occasional light staining in margins, some staining to pastedowns, supplement heavily stained, couple of pages lack tips of corners, small piece out of one upper margin, page 255-256 in "Family Magazine" lacks piece of lower corner which interferes with text else good. Some of the articles: "Villages of the North American Indian," "River St. Clair and the Chippeway Indians," "Astronomy," "Plan for Emancipation," "The Diving Bell," "Physiogonomy," "Bats," "Dr. Edward Jenner," "Homes in Turkey and Egypt," "Burial Places and Funeral Rites."
