Fresno, California 1897 Well illustr, oblong 9.25 x 12, tan boards w/gilt lettering on front cover, 144 + index. Covers well worn, soiled, rubbed, spotted, corners and spine tips bumped and worn, front outer hinge peeling and starting to split, front cover loose and text block starting to become detached at bottom, ink inscription "Christmas 1897 Bob Hutchinson and wife," spotting and soiling to pastedowns and first / last pages, last page has a small tear on bottom margin, occasional smudging else contents good/very good. Some of the chapters: "The Evolution of the Raisin," "Wine and Wine Makers," "Citrus Culture in Fresno County" plus chapters on nearby towns such as Selma, Clovis and Sanger, plus much more. From the introduction: "This book is published to advertise Fresno County . . . Those who seek information usually want to learn something about the land, its fruits, its wines, its lumber, its mines, its schools, churches, water supply, and transportation facilities. Such information we have endeavored to present . . . " Scarce. FIRST ED.
