Covers faded, waterstained, corners and spine tips bumped and worn, spine darkened, remnants of sticker on front cover, ink name and date "Thomas Smale for Balsams. 19th July 1844," inner hinges cracked, text block cracked, some loose signatures, small tears to plate opposite page one and on pages 239-240, light waterstaining, scattered foxing, pencil notes in margins of a couple of pages, slight damp smell, small piece out of side margin of 237/238. Majority of the contents are tight, book is better than it "sounds." Lovely plates of a "Tuscan Rose," "A Bizarre Carnation," "Yellow Picote," "Auricula," "Polyanthus" and "Tulips," all with tissue guards. Sixth Edition.
