J. Ottmann, Lith., NY nd (1885) 14 X 10.5, toning, tears, soiling, removal marks along left margin. Shows Tua looking over her right shoulder as she holds her violin, the word "Puck" above her head. Teresina Tua, born 1867 in Turin, Italy, was a violin prodigy who made her first public appearance at age 7. She was quite celebrated, per the note below her image: "The Queen of Spain made her Court Violiniste . . . The Prince of Walessent a gold violin studded with diamonds, the Emperor of Russia a valuable diadem . . . " The note mentions her first appearance takes place Monday, October 17th . . . at Chickering Halll . . . This was her first American appearance in 1885 when she was only 18.
