With the assistance of the San Anselmo Historical Museum we were able to piece together the picture of Pearl Dondero. Her family arrived in San Anselmo in 1914 which was the year she was chosen queen. Arriving along with her family was a statue of a cast-iron deer named Sugarfoot. Sugarfoot was donated several years later to the City of Anselmo by Pearl and her brother Anthony. Sugarfoot has been a beloved presence on the lawn of the Town Hall.
