MARK TWAIN'S ADHESIVE SCRAP BOOK.

Slote, Woodman & Co: NY nd Patented June 24, 1873, by Saml L. Clemens. Illustr ad on free front endpaper, 10 x 7.5, blindstamped brown cloth with gilt lettering on spine, 100 pp. Front cover detached, covers worn, soiled, spotted, corners and spine tips bumped, worn and fraying, small hole on spine cover and small tear on lower edge of rear outer hinge, contents have glue stains, free front endpaper becoming detached, seven pages have newspaper clippings (mainly poetry) attached else good. On free front endpaper is an advertisement for "Mark Twain's Patent scrap book. "I have invented . . . A new Scrap Book, not to make money out of it, but to economise the profanity of this country . . . when the average man wants to put something in his scrap book he can't find his paste, then he swears . . . the result is barrels and barrels of profanity. This can all be saved . . . simply by substituting my self-pasting Scrap Book for the old-fashioned one."
