Cabinet Card Photograph of Detroit Fireman Charles J. Monaghan, c. late 1880s to early 1890s and taken by the McMichael Studio of Detroit.

Detroit nd (late 1880s 6.5 x 4.25, very light spotting, scratching and wear else very good. There is no name of the firefighter on the photograph but the person from whom we acquired it indicated Charles Monaghan was his name and that he later lived at 73 Avery St. In the Detroit city directory for 1889-90 Monaghan is listed as a firefighter, the address of the photograph, 152 Woodward, is the same as on the photograph. Also, Monaghan has the number 15 on his belt which could indicate Engine Company 15, which was located on Hubbard, near Fort St. In 1886, Engine Co. 15 didn't exist but it did in 1890. Also McMichael was at 152 Woodward in 1890 but not in 1886 or 1896. The firefighter is shown wearing a dress uniform, a long coat with his badge (number not visible) near the collar, a hat with the fire department emblen and the number 15 on his belt. A very nice image.
