American Express Stock Certificate 80 shares, date 1873 and signed by its president and co-founder William Fargo.

New York February 4, 187 Printed by the American Bank Note Co., New York. Oblong 8 x11.5, vignette of a dog with its head on its paws, black and orange. Diamond cut cansel, creasing else good. Issued to Ebenezer Pennock of Chittenango, NY. In addition to Fargo, it is also signed by John Knapp as secretary and Alex. Holland as treasurer. William Fargo and Henry Wells formed American Express in 1850. The company shipped merchandise to a few states west of Buffalo but in 1851, wanting to extend the delivery area across the country to California, Wells Fargo and Company was founded.
