Pitman Publishing Co: NY, Chicago 1938 Illustr, 10 x 6.75, blue cloth with silver lettering, 218 pp. Covers worn, rubbed, stained, corners and spine tips bumped and worn, lower spine tip missing small pieces, soiling and offsetting to endpapers from unrelated newspaper clipping and note, contents clean and good. From the acknowledgements: " . . . the author wishes to acknowledge the debt of many years to the late Lon Chaney, that master of character make-up, for the valuable pointers and tips he gave the author on make-up for the camera when he was working at the Universal Studios, Hollywood, California, in 1922 and 1923. Many of the principles of character make-up set down here were given to the author by Mr. Chaney." Some of the chapters: "Make-up and its Use in Photography," "Principles of Character Make-Up for Women -- Use and Purpose," "Principles of Character Make-Up for Men."
