np (Boston?) 1858 One sheet of laid paper, 10 x 15.5, folded once with writing on one panel, overall toning, one brown streak vertically through text, folds, couple of holes through text at folds, edgewear, endorsed by Edward D. Nole (July 7, 1858) on reverse. Hale writes to Poole (William Frederick Poole, librarian of the Boston Athenaeum): "I borrowed the enclosed of you more than a week since, to pay a hackman. I have looked in at the Athenaeum two or three times since without seeing you & as I leave town today for a month, I enclose it less you shall think I had forgotten it. With many thanks, Always ____, Edward E. Hale. I hope your mother will be here on my return." Tiny heraldic emboss at top of page; Hale’s return address is '67 Wacutu [?] Street."
