Two Publications from the Battle Creek Journal, Battle Creek, Michigan: "Journal Carriers' New Years Greeting 1896" and "Carriers' Greeting 1897."

Battle Creek Daily and Weekly Journal: George H. Willard & Co: Battle Creek, Mich. 1896 & 1897 "Printed at the Journal Job Rooms." 1896: Illustr, 8.5 x 6, printed stapled wraps, 10 pp, covers have sunning, light soiling and a few small indentations, rusty staples else good. 1897: Illustr, 9.25 x 6, printed stapled wraps, 10 pp, covers soiled, creased, stained, spotted, small piece out of foredge which also affects 1st page, a few small tears (including back cover), soiling and creasing else contents ok. The contents of each one consists of a lengthy poem by Philip Verrill Mighels which details the misery and eventual happiness of a small child. In 1896 it is "Little Jim" a newspaper carrier and in 1897 it is the reminiscences of a pressman and a foreman at a gathering of newspapermen. Surprisingly both stories end at Christmastime. Get out your hankies! Sold as a pair.
